***i have searched around for a while to look for what i want (for approx. 4 hours). making a thread is always a last resort for me at afterdawn. so please dont razz me for this.*** end of disclaimer. hello, i'm new to the ds hacking scene. my ds lite was bought within 24 hours of this post. so... yeah... i want to make my ds: play gba and nds backups play some roms (SNES mainly) play media (mp3,videos, etc.) have at least 1 gigabyte of memory and have the mods cost less than the ds itself (130$) *[minus reasonable s&h for the mods]. from the info i found, i need: m3 brand flashcart passcard 3 sd/cf (1gig+) a sd/cf adapter/port (well my laptop might have one...) some apps/firmware... extra stuff (after the above conditions are met): having the cart sit nicely in a ds lite (not sticking out)-m3 lite?? i will give up some memory for this-g6 lite maybe. my problem is that there are so many choices available and i don't know which way to go. also, from the websites i visited, the same m3 products might go under different names and have the same pic (confusing and unhelpful) or vice-versa, and, on top of that, some of them don't play gba backups (m3 pro versions i believe), leading to a dead end for my gba compatibility conditions. the official site just points me to further confusing sites and in the "products list, some of the models being offered at the websites i visited weren't listed. i would appreciate any help. wi-fi router help: last time i posted a thread, it was because my wifi router was displaying a lot of blankness -missing tabs, options, buttons (in its web-based configuration site). to solve this, i shutdown my zonealarm firewall. visited the page (no blankness!) and went into the admin section and made it "https" (secure) instead of "http"(not). then i turned zone alarm back on and tried again with "https". the secure connection wa allowed. so i saw all my options and so forth. i thought this would be helpful since the ds uses wifi. also it is one of the reasons i got a wireless router. also thanks to creaky for all his help. cheers! and thanks in advance.
You've done alot of research From what you've said the M3 Lite and Passcard3 are what your after, the M3 Lite fits perfectly in the DS Lite and plays GBA/NDS/Music/Video. It uses MicroSD cards so you can easily buy 1GB of memory for it. One thing that isn't great is SNES emulation where very few agmes work, but this is a drawback of the emulators currently available, not the M3 itself. If you get the M3 you will most likly need to update the PC software and M3 firmware for newer games to work, updates can be found at www.dualscene.com I can think of 2 examples of this, Divineo, and everyone else. Divineo have been quite lazy and some of their M3 pages show the same picture, so just ignore the picture on that site. As for everywhere else, you might be refering to the M3 Perfect range and the M3 Pro range, do not buy anything called M3 Pro, as this range lacks the 32MB of RAM the perfect range has, this lack of RAM pretty much kills all GBA support and also lowers it's DS games compatibility VERY slightly (only 1 game i know of is effected) As for the wifi router, https and http access to the settings should not effect the DS's connection to the internet, however the DS is not compatible with WPA encryption, so if you use that you would have to downgrade your security to WEP. Think that covers evrything. Oh, and if you havn't already done so, check my M3 guide, the link is in my sig.
thanky hanky. of course i checked your guide. i did it before my search. it was very informative and helpful. ill be sure to refer to it when i actually get the necessary "tools". as for snes support, i just hope bahamut lagoon works (or megaman x3, gradius 3, captain commando). again thanks. i think i can find something 130$ or under...
