I inserted a FULL DVD into my DVD drive. The drive was was showing that the dvd disc was empty. So I put the disc in my standalone dvd player and it read it, inserted it back in the computer's drive, it said empty. I inserted a cd, it played ok. I ripped a dvd not more than a month ago on the same drive. Does anyone have a clue? I must confess that I'm not mush of a computer whiz. If everything works I'm fine but if something doesn't work I'm in trouble. Thanks Steve
The first thing to check is media quality. Is this full dvd an original or a backup dvd? What is the brand name/format/and speed rate of those blank discs? What is the brand name and model # of that dvd-rw drive? Single dvd drive or dual drives? How fast were they burned? The mid code from your media will help. Use neroinfotool/dvd decrypter/dvdidentier/or dvdinfopro to find that MID code.
Thanks saugmon for responding! I found my problem, I transferred a lot of my VHS tapes to DVD (on my stand-along combo VHS/DVD recorder, I thought I finalized all of the DVD but I forgot these two. I finalized them and then they were reconized by my DRU 530A. Pretty dumb, huh. But now I don't know how to burn DVD (certain chapters) to my HD. I have nero, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, but I never seen anything telling me how to burn chapters to my HD. As you can tell I am a novice at this, but we all have to learn sometime. Thanks again, Steve
