the player does every thing else ok but just will not reconize dvd films nor dvd-r dvd+rw as a matter of fact anything to do with a dvd this player will not play it. i had a plextor 708a and that would play the dvd side of things but would not reconize cd-r/rw but that turned out to be a faulty player. i sent that back and got this one surely this ones not faulty as well. please someone help me its driving me mad
Sounds to me like it could be a faulty drive then. I also have the DRU-530A and have had nothing but but good results thus far it has read the movies I have put in it without any problems and burns DVD's just fine. Have you tried the firmware upgrade that Sony has put out on its website? Not sure it will fix your probs but it would not hurt..
