How come when I add 4 movies that are approximately 130,000 kbs each, the storage becomes full? And if I try to add another one, I go into negative storage. Why is this when the DVD can hold up to 4.7 gb? The entire project that I want to burn is only 1.86 gb. It's gotta be MyDVD, because when I tried it on Nero, it only took up about 1/4 of the storage. do i have some settings wrong or something?

Hi, this is becasuse it encodes all files to mpeg2 format, i.e. it takes up more space! If the movie is in VCD format it will also transcode the audio to be dvd compliant (48khz compared to VCD 44,1khz) /N

    hi there.

i am a pro videographer, and i use sonic MyDVD and love it, unfortunately for u, your files are probably in a differennt format from mpeg2 (for dvd burning) and the resolution might be smaller than the required 720x576 (pal) or 720x480 (ntsc) resolution.

just because your vids have a particular file size, doesnt mean they will fit on the dvd.

BTW, a dvd-r disc is only 4.38gb in size, not 4.7gb ok, u cant get 4.7gb on any single sided dvd disc, and MyDVD will only record up to about 3.8gb of mpeg2 video anyway, that equates to about 60 to 65 min of top quality mpeg2 because mydvd needs about 600mb of space for transcoding the video/audio files.

u can get 2 hours of video on MyDVD if u use lower quality mpeg2 resolution, but the finished video image is not that good, always use best quality all the time.

another thing, MyDVD will always transcode any imported video file to best quality anyway, so you wont get any more than about 65min of video to a dvd disc, thats just the way MyDVD does it, and in my opinion, its good they do this because they giveing u the best quality possible on the finished video.

    hope this helped.....GLEN
