I have the store bought version of "Myst 3 Exile". I have installed and played it a couple of times but the last time I used it I found that disc 3 had a nasty scratch on it, so I figured I should make a copy of the whole collection of all 4 discs. Initailly I tried to just copy it with my Nero burner, (guess what?)I then tried clonecd but have used up my trial and at this time cant afford to bu it, I tried alcohol120% but no go. I downloaded cloneyxxl and found the protection to be safedisc2. I tried alcohol againboth the program and the bottle, Niether one helped. I now have more coasters than I have furnature worth coasters. Cloney has given me "safedisc2 and 5 sculls" Are these discs copyable? Can I bust the copywrite for disc 1 only or do I have to redo all the discs? I have been trying all the instructions that I can find but now here I am after 2 days and alot of wasted discs. Please help.
Clony hasn't been updated for a while so you may want to run the disc through A-Ray Scanner then post the results http://www.aray-software.com/ What make/model burner do you have?
ARAY SCAN RESULTS: [19:48:16 PM] Signs on CD/DVD indicate SafeDisc 2.10 [19:48:18 PM] SafeDisc 2.10.030 detected -> D:\M3.exe [19:49:00 PM] --- File(s) Scan Finished [7.55s] --- BURNING ROM NERO 5 VERSION 5.5.9.22 BURNER: BENQ 40X12X48
THE ORIGINAL COPY PROCESS TAKE ABOUT 4 HOURS WHICH IS NO BIG DEAL AS I AM ONLY RUNNING A P2 AND 433mhz. (Sorry for the caps) When I install the game and try to play it it asks "Please insert the Myst III: Exile CD-ROm, select OK and restart application"
SafeDisc 2.10 shouldn't be much of a problem. You're using the SafeDisc 2/3 profile for Alcohol, correct? It's very possible that your burner isn't up to the task. In order to back up PC games your burner needs to be able to write EFM correctly (a 2-sheep burner) and I'm not sure if yours can even write it almost correctly (1-sheep burner). My best suggestion at this point would be to try this guide for backing up SafeDisc with a 1-sheep burner. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36444 If it doesn't work you may want to consider getting a burner like the Lite-On 52327S or Asus 5232AS which are both great for backing up PC games and go for arounf $30 each
I'm quite positive you don't need a "2 sheep burner" to backup Safedisc 2.10. If it were me, I would use CloneCD and enable in read options: Regenerate data sectors Fast error skip(On) Read at max with your dvd or cd-rom. When all done burn RAO DAO with "always close last session" enabled and burn at 4x. Play the backup in your dvd or cd-rom, not your cd burner m8. I have tried the sugestions given on the how to site but still no go. I have used up my clonecd trial and dont have a credit card to buy it. And im not sure how much time i have on my alcohol trial. I have been thinking of getting a new burner anyway, Can someone take a look at this http://www.hltechnology.com/one_prod.php?pid=0903230 and tell me if this will do the job.
If you backup pc\audio protecion on a routine basis, then I highly recommend the Plex Premium (52\32\52x). Moderator Neph has conformed his Plex Premium can easily backup the latest Safedisc cd protection (Safedisc 3.20.022) which is found on Doom 3. Plex Premium also has it'sown write tech for SecuROM which is called VariRec [/b] and Blindwrite 5 supports for SecuROM backups. The ultimate cd burner, the Plex Premium http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-233&depa=1
