i know how to change the title and stuff, obviously just right click and rename. but sometimes i cant seem to be able to rename things like artist or albums and stuff. like first i right click, then properties and theres a tab and stuff to change the names. but after i apply it, sometimes it doesnt change even though it says. does anybody know how to 'really' change them?
If you haven't already got it, can I suggest you download MP3 Info Extension v3.4 Build 23 from http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/mp3_tools I think this application will help you do what you want with album names and other fields in the tag. Be aware it does associate itself to your MP3 files.
It will give you a cute new icon for each of your mp3 files. The icon will display the bitrate of the file. It didn't affect the "open with" setting, so it didn't change the specified player. You will get an MP3-Info tab when you look at the file properties that will give you easy access to the tag fields you are looking to change. I have been using the application quite a bit lately to edit the tags to 30 characters length while I have been ripping my CDs to put on DVD.
Can I also add a recommendation for Mp3tag v2.39 - also available from the Afterdawn MP3 tool download page. This is great if you want to convert filenames to tags or add something like an album tag to a number of files.
I recommend Tag&Rename, it's free, edits all IDTags and lets you edit large amounts of Mp3's very easily, it's got a good interface.
