i had a problem earlier with my nd-1100a not reading dvd media. it wouldn't recognize it at all. it would read cd-media fine but it doesn't seem to know that there is a dvd disc in the drive.

i tried everything and finally switching the dvd-drive to the primary ide channel and moving the cd-drive to the secondary did the trick. once upon reboot, the problem resurfaced. i rebooted and the problem vanished again. that was a few weeks ago. i just rebooted again tonight and the problem is back. three reboots and it won't go away again. what would do this?

i guess the problem is that it has trouble reading anything but a perfect disc.

when it decides to be a pain in the arse it won't read hardly anything, even discs it's read before.

anyone think this laser might need cleaning? should i try to rma the drive?
