I had the same problem just yesterday! I just bought some Fuji +R DL's for the first time and I can't get anything to burn properly (might have to upgrade software, too) but I thought I'd try the firmware update as well. Were you trying to burn DL's with this drive and did the firmware update fix the problem? I'm newbie to the DL game and trying to get up to speed. And I am wondering which file you used (There are SOOOO many)
Ok--i will check it out. Part of the sales pitch on that computer was the DL capability, so I'm just not getting around to trying. We'll see how it goes
Hey I wonder what flash version you were showing before you flashed it. I had 2.98--which doesn't seem to make sense--I called both NEC and Gateway. NEC told me to go to gateway and gateway told me to go to NEC. On the other hand, I did buy some different media--Verbatim 2.4x +R DL and these discs worked! I finally burned some DL'S yes!!
I have a Gateway AMD Athalon 64bit 3700+ 2400Mhz, 1.5Gb of Ram, 250gb hard drive. Running on Windows XP Media Ed, SP2. For Video stuff, mostly use Adobe Prem Elements 2, Windows MM, AVS Video Converter 4, DvdDecrypter, DVD Shrink, and Nero. Oh, and the NEC ND 3500AG DVD burner.
I also have an NEC ND-3500AG that cam ein my Gateway 504GR. The firmware is indicated as being v2.98 when I use Nero to check it. I was thinking of flashing the firmware to see if the stack of 16X Memorex DVD-R will burn at something other than 2X, but when I went to the NEC site the version was 2.18. I now assume it is due to being badged as a Gateway drive or something, but I am not sure. Does anyone have any idea what this 2.98 version is? Will flashing to 2.18 let me use those 16X DVD's or will it fry the drive???
hi, if your drive is still under warenty i strongly recomendnot flashing ur drive other than that i do not no about
I have received some Memorex 16x speed dvd-r s and I have not been able to burn anything successfully with my NEC_3500AG either does anyone know if it could be just the Memorex brand not compatible with my drive? Alcohol gives me the Incompatible media error and DVD decrypter gives me a I/O error right out of the gate on any project i have tried to back up. I have only used one other brand with my NEC and that was Ridata or R data and they worked like clockwork? Thanks guys for any answers to this problem
i sorta had a simallar prob i just up graded my comp 2 sp2 coz i reformated and worked with all blank media ive tried
