I just installed a NEC-3540A burner in my Dell. I used to have a TEAC but it was burning to slow with TY discs. Anyway, now the discs I burn will not play on my Panasonic DVD/VCR. I upgraded the firmware from 1.01 to 1.03, no change. Then I updated to 1.W7, still no change. I have slowed the write speed down to 4x, then to 2.4x, still get error message on the player "No disc". The discs play fine on all my other players, does anybody have any ideas? Is it a format issue? Thanks
What format are you using on those tys? I have 5 pc burners, and 3 of them vary considerably compared to both my benq 1620s. That's why 3 of them are sitting in their own boxes, LOL. Even a brand new HP640c Lightscribe. Try opposite format. That panasonic just may not like that format from your new NEC.But then, your other stand alones my have trouble with with that format. What programs you using for the dvd backup process? Sometimes stand alones can be picky on certain burn programs. Compatability issues like this is why I booktype the plus format to dvd-rom,making them more compatable on more stand alones and pc drives. That's why I have 2 1620s,and a benq 1640 on order.
The likely fault is your Panasonic player is OLD and doesn't like the DVD-R's or DVD+R's that you are using. Since you've flashed Dee's W1.07 firmware which I believe allows bitsetting, if you "bit set" the DVD to burn as a DVD-ROM then likely your Panny player will like it.
I have never had a problem with any dvd ive burnt on my 3540a not playing on any player. What model is your player? Try changing media
