Hi and thanks in advance for the help. My DVD burner will not play newer movies. I initally get an disc icon near the cursor but then nothing. It's as the computer isn't recognizing the disc. I made sure I had the latest edition of the firmware, tried another player. (PowerDVD and Interactual)I even booted the computer in safe mode and tried, no luck. I also uninstalled it in device manager, no luck there either. It will play older movies I have, and backup copies made with DVDXcopy, just not new rentals. It will also play DVD-ROM games and burn CD's. This one has me baffled.

its probably the media that dvd's are manufactured with. or knowing those dumbassess - they have some stupid precache on the new dvd disk with some ads or other crap which you dont want. We have seen this with music cd's that are enhanced with video - they simply wont play on an ordinary cd player becuase of the extras or copy protection
