I have the ND-1100A and I have not yet had the change to burn any backups of my dvd's. Before I started, I wanted to make sure that the media type that I bought would actually work the majority of the time. I'm only really interested in making sure my backups work for my two stand-alone dvd players, a Samsung & a Sony. Going through the posts it seems as if a lot of you fellow NEC DVD+RW owners have had a good amount of success with Verbatim DVD+R discs. If you could please list media types that worked for you (and on what system) and where you purchased them from that'd be great. Thanks.

Here's my advice for the NEC burner: Take it back and get a Pioneer 105/6 instead! (sorry mate but the NEC is notoriously bad).

lol - im not too sure about the quality of NEC, but i agree with Discmania on the Pioneers. You can get the DVR106 in the UK for £128 from svp

Yeah, if I was able to bring back my NEC burner and exchange it, I would. But, im stuck with this and this is what I have to work with. Has everyone been having that many problems with this burner?

    I love my NEC ND1100

i dont see how the burner makes a difference in quality of picture though. doesn't that have to do with the method of ripping and burning

anyways ive use about few different discs some memorex and verbatim and both worked good from like target or best buy or one of those stores

i guess its hit or miss with the nec dvd+rw

    why?

I agree with that also, why change it if it works?

Well, I can't say that im unhappy with it because i've never tried it, but i've read a few posts on here from fellow NEC owners who were having problems. I just wanted to see what media you guys used in order to have success. I was thinking about picking up some Verbatim DVD+R's, what have you guys been successful with? Also, did u guys use Nero to burn? And at what speed? Thanks guys.

I have a ND1300A. The Ritek -R (G04) I used to backup the PS2 games failed to boot in my PS2 V7. The PS2's laser unit kept on making loud noise in an attempt to recognize the media. I use Alcohol 120%. DVD-RW and CD-R burnt using the same setups work perfectly well.

the -R were burnt at x4 and x2, same results. What is at fault? the burner? software? media? my PS2?
