I just got a Alienware pc for Graduation and got it the 27th. On Sept 2nd I got home and my dvd burner wouldn't Read or Write anything, but it shows up in bios and windows but doesn't see any disc
uninstall the drive in device manager than restart windows to let it load it's own driver. also check with drive manufacturer for a firmware update & proceedure to do that.
no but i did install the firmware update the drives orginal was 1.04 and the update was for 3.0 and it didnt work and its not a soft issue since i can't boot off the drive anyways
doesn't have to be powerful, even a p2 computer. just to see if reads disks or not. rma is Return Merchandise Authorization.
Ok after a laser disc cleaner it reads DVDs but not cds, btw since its alienware they would just send me a new drive after i call them
