    Hi,

I am having some problems this last few weeks backing up my dvd 's. This started after I updated the firmware on my NEC OPTIARC AD5170A DVD RW from 1.11 to 1.13. I have since gone back to the 1.11 firmware but still have the same problem, which is , when i do an exact copy of a DVD onto a dual layer disc and then try and play the backup, the film becomes un watchable after about an hour or so in. I am using Aone DVD+R DL - media ID: RICOHJPN-D01-43 and until recently i have had no problems with them, i have used around 40 discs without a single coaster but the last 10 have all had the same problem i described above. I am using 1 click DVD Copy Pro version 2.3.1.1 and AnyDvd 6.1.7.0 on Windows XP Home SP2. I have tried uninstalling and re installing 1 Click DVD Copy Pro and AnyDvd as well as other burning software installed and used registry mechanic to fix any errors but am unsure what to do next. If anyone else has had similar problems any help would be much appreciated.

I would reflash your drive back to the most current firmware. I would also suggest Verbatim and Verbatim only for your DL burning. While you may have seen success with your Ricoh dyed discs, the reason Verbatims are suggested is for consistency and compatability. This may be why you are seeing spotty success with the Aone discs.

Hey just following the advice I found on the Sony NEC website. Thanks, will give the Verbatim discs a try.
