I have been out of backing up my dvds for a while. I used to use dvd decrypter all the time. Is there a free program that is worth using? Trying to back up some of my dvd collection. thanks!!

    Hi,

Download DVDFAB Platinum. 30 day free trial period, then $49.00.
    http://www.dvdfab.com/download.htm

After the 30 day trial. If you still wish to try other DVD backup softwares, I can suggest a few others which also, provide a trial period.

    For free. DVDSHRINK http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

And for a free decrypter to use with DVDSHRINK.

    Download DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER.
    http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

NOTE: Uninstall the DVDFAB Platinum version before installing DVD HD DECRYPTER. May or may not interfere.

    Hope this helps!

Just to throw my little two cents in this one: DvdFab Platinum is absolutely worth the money, don't get me wrong. But if you don't mind the extra steps, DvdFab Hd Decrypter is great. It's updated often and handles most movies without a hiccup.

Here lately, i've been giving serious thought to buying it, just to give something back to these cats.

But, i've never had a problem since hopping on DvdFab's free train.

i already used the plainum free trial last motnh. it was a very good program.

I am trying to figure out how to use DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER and can't figure it out. I am able to decypt and then I open the file with shrink and it analyzes the movie fine and plays it through the preview window but everytime it finishes the burning fails almost immedietly using nero. It is not creating an image file either, just the VTS files. I am sure I am doing something wrong. any ideas of whta i am doing wrong??

Could you post an error log (minus your serial number) from Nero?

JLebowski, you have create an ISO image checked in dvd shrink right?

    things to try:

    1. make sure nero is up to date
    2. use good media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 4x to 8x max
    3. make sure you have the most up to date firmware for your drive/burner
    4. try burning the iso file with imgburn (freeware)

When you are ready to back up dvd, then hit backup, a new window appears and says select back up target, click and then select iso image file, then select target image file, then ok

Shrink with IMG Burn for all my movies (you can still burn with Decrypter or Nero). However, on a select very few, I run them through DVDFabHD Decrypter first. Shrink is still one of the best programs out there for compressing, editing, splitting and joining disc's.

Shrink is an excellent program but i'm running into the problem of the newer movies not wanting to back up.
    I get the cycle-redundecy error.

Any suggestions on ways around this or newer freeware that gets past it?

I do also have the lasest version of Imgburn, will that do the trick?

    Needing some help:)
