Reinstalled Nero 7 -trying to do data burns of AVI for my Divx player. Using Taiyo discs, have HP Pavilion, 1G memory, no multi-tasking.

Burn process 'appears' to go well - DVD burner lite comes on, Nero says it burned successfully. BUT. Putting disk into PC - lite comes on constant and hangs....in Divx player it says unknown disk.

Tried a Ritek (yuk) disk with the following log from Nero. Any of you guru's got any suggestions?

all I saw was that you have a virtual drive on...... sometimes Nero is buggy with a virtual drive also on!

Your burner..... is this on a laptop? I tried looking up your burner:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2153
you're showing a firmware for it as XU07 but I can't find that firmware anywhere for your drive! and further analysis on your drive:
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters...&hddvdrom=&orderby=Name&hits=50&Search=Search
shows that it's only an 8x burner. Which means that if you are using 16x media you might have a problem there!

IHoe ~ The XU07 firmware is the latest - it's for a slave drive, CSEL, RPC1...I updated it about a year ago and it's worked fine up to now. Yes, the toshiba 6572M is in a laptop.

I went ahead and got rid of the virtual drive, and switched back to my pile of 8X Taiyo's. Tried to burn again at 4X - same problem - it looks like it burns well, then won't play in PC or divx player. Also tried doing an AVI to DVD burn with same results. Here's the latest log to see if it might show something I'm missing.

the nero log doesn't show much going on at all! The reason why I asked if your computer was a laptop is that I know that laptops seems to have more trouble with DVD burning than non laptop computers. does the avi work? can you play the avi on the computer? also:
what program did you use to convert the avi to dvd? Nero vision? do you have that log?

..Ah - a late-niter. Here's what's going on still. I do a Nero Vision avi data burn to a blank Taiyo disc. DVD player lite comes on, and about 4 minutes later it pops out - Nero says burned successfully.

But. I put the burned avi back into the PC drive - lite comes on and just hangs (stays on). Put the avi into my Divx player - says unrecognized disk.

Then. Used Nero avi to DVD - 2 hours burning it. Same problem as above and can't play.

Frustrating - looks like maybe I might have to get a new DVD-drive for my PC.....thx for your help

I put in both commercial and previously burned dvd's and cd's - all read fine. Also tried to burn using another program (winAvi) - it took the normal 2 hrs to transcode, drive lite came on while burning took place, then ejected it. Same problem with Nero - in my pc drive, lite comes on and stays on (drive unaccessible), and divx player says unknown disc.

    too weird.
