ryt you know the way america run on 110v and me (UK) use 230v weeeelllllll.... i am going to mod my ps2 but all the sites i go to say i need a 15 watt soldering iron and all i have found over here is 30 watt. so is there 15 watt the same as 30 watt over here
I would say they are the same as long as the amperage is the same. Ohms Law is what is used to figure electical calculations. In it: Volts x Current = Power where Current is Amps and Power is Watts So using that formula 120V x 0.125 Amps = 15 Watts 240V x 0.125 Amps = 30 Watts The main thing they are telling you is you want a low heat soldering iron when soldering on electronics.
um... i think watts r the same across the world... no matter what voltage u start with you still need to produce only 15watts... over 15 would get that tip way to hot to try to solder onto those ps2 ic legs... keep looking man ull find one but finding one with a pencil tip is tricky
you can reduce the output with a light dimmer. my weller solder station uses 60 watts as it is for doing board work. the lower the wattage the longer it takes to heat up. my radio shack soldering iron is 120v 30w so it takes longer to heat up. i'm in canada
bought my weller solder station for $75Can & that is near the bottom end of the wellers but takes a minute or 2 to heatup compared to the radio shack which is 5 minutes plus
