Looks like your player doesn't support external subs. Works perfectly here. If your player is DivX certified, then use fuse to mux the avi and subs to a divx file. If it isn't DivX certified, then I guess it doesn't support subs at all in which case you would need to hard encode them.

thanx for replying,my player is divx certified as i have burnt and watch a few divx/avi files, the player i use is a DVX 6600. this might be a stupid question, but what is mux and where do i get it from, also, how would i go about hard encoding the subtitles?

Mux (in this case)means, place the subs and video/audio from the avi into a .divx file. It is not something that you get, but something that you do.

My player isn't DivX certified, however it can still decode DivX fine as ASP MPEG4 is ASP MPEG4. So the statement "my player is divx certified as i have burnt and watch a few divx/avi files" will not always be true.

You can get fuse from the DivX labs site.
