Need some friendly advice if poss. Basically i am hoping to store divx/xvid films etc to play on this media player. All i need to know is there a fairly good software to convert files to divx/xvid/avi that will work flawlessly in this media player. Problem i have had in the past is that even if i download avi/divx/xvid movies they don't always work on divX /media players. They sometimes go out of sync or even have no picture! Attached link to show you what media player i've got... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-External-Portable-500GB-Media-Centre-Ha ... dZViewItem Many thanks for taking a look and given me some ideas.
Broken link. I use Aiseesoft Total Video Converter, it lets you convert to virtually any kind of video format.
Both software free. Excellent quality, versatile: FairUse Wizard 2 http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/160/59/ AutoGK: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/autogk_page2.html

I would try to find some customer reviews before buying this basically no-name product. If you have a nice TV, the outputs are rather limited. Composite video + stereo audio channels S-Video For a few bucks more you could get a much more versatile product that can also handle almost any file, including HD files. http://maddhat.com/?p=31 http://www.wdc.com/en/products/wdtv/
Except for the HD part, an old XBOX with XBMC beats any player when it comes to file type versatility/price !
That's what I thought, especially since I had never played with an XBOX before, but it turned out to be rather simple. It does have a learning curve, but is not rocket science. My new discovered feature for XBMC- YouTube and Hulu on my TV!
