Hello, I'm new at this DVD authoring and burning process. I've tried to use programs to encode/convert a 700 mb video file I want to burn onto a blank DVD without much luck. I've tried to use TMPGenc but without success. What programs (free programs) would be better or more easier to use?
Well, "Free" is all in and about how you "acquire" the "Free" software. Yes, you could download the software and utilize from a proprietary site and utilize the trial for "Free" until it runs out, or you could try file sharing and discover it's available for your use via somebody else's generosity. Anyhoot, if you can find a way to get this software, try Apollo divX to DVD. I've used it to convert and join to DVD with no audio issues after decompression, conversion and burn.
Ok thanks for the reply. Divx to DVD works well. Now my problem seems to be my computer not recognizing my blank DVDs.
Sounds like you purchased the wrong format media. This sounds like case where you DVD burner is format specific. The drive is either + or - specific and you purchased the wrong type. Check the specs on the burner.
I think this computer I'm using just has a CD burner and not a DVD burner. It does have a DVD Rom though.
Unfortunately you are out of luck to burn to DVD. You can choose to save the converted DVD to the harddrive, then purchase a DVD burner and burn at your convenience. A rom drive will only allow read access.
Can't save VOB or VTS to Cd. you'll need to convert the files to MPEG, AVI, WMA, etc. Anything really other than DVD format.
I saved the original wmv file to a cd and transferred the file to another pc. Now I'm trying to author/encode it using Apollo Divx to DVD. Its in the 'generating DVD movie' mode at 190%. Is that normal for this program?
Ok I got another problem now. Divx to DVD finished authoring it and when I tried to start the TMPGenc DVD Author process (so I can burn it to a DVD) it gave me an error message saying, 'the video bitrate 104857 kbps is too high for a standard DVD'. What did I do wrong?
Are you saying you cannot import into TMPGEnc? Why not have just selected to burn to DVD within DivX to DVD?
I forgot to click the burn option when I started the Divx to DVD process. Anyway now I have to start it all over again because the aspect ratio is small.
