    Hello all,
I am new at this completely, I am still trying to learn everything and figure out how everything works. Okay my delema is this, I am trying to put avi files onto a DVD-R disk, well I found out this is impossible to do directly, and I need to convert the AVI files to VCD files in order to create a DVD that will play on a stand alone dvd player. Well I read around tried a couple of methods, I tried TMPEG Plus, I tried Cucusoft Avi2DVD and another program called DVD Santa to convert the avi files to vcd files. Well I had no luck at all when I try to author the files on TMPEG it gets to about 20% and then my comp completely freezes, the same thing happens when I use the other programs as well it is really weird. I checked for viruses, nothing, I thought maybe I was over heating, Nothing. I really don't have a clue as to what I can try next, Can anyone help with this or try to think of any possibilities here, I will pay anyone who may be of assistance if nessecasry. Thanks for reading.

Usually you need only to convert the avi into dvd compliant format (i.e. with video_ts folder), then burn to dvd. So if you have DVDSanta, you can click 'video files', 'add media', then 'create dvd'. But since DVDSanta is not very good at burning, you may say no to burning after the encoding is completed, and use e.g. Nero Recode for the final burning.

    Good luck!

BTW: People here help each other out on a voluntary basis, so there's no need to mention about payment. Just feel free to ask a question or express a view.
