I decided i would build a new pc instead of buying one to hopefully save money and to learn a thing or too. Im not really sure how to check whether the different hardware is compatable with everything else so i need help. I want a pc that can handle video editing and light gaming such as americas army... I like the e6600 as my cpu, want atleast 2gb of ram and atleast 500gb of storage. I would like to spend around $1000 if possible. I would also like a firewire port and a way to hook up to a television. Any advice is appreciated
The E6600, while good, is an old CPU, and thus may not be so easy to find cheap. You'd be better off looking for an E6750. Here's a basic build idea: CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128086 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143130 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152100 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146028 ODD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827248011 Sound: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102003 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001 CPU Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 This lot comes to almost exactly 1000 dollars, with $70 of rebates to knock that price down a bit.
do you think that this will handle most difficult tasks with relative ease... such as premier pro and photoshop simualtaneously or dvd burning?
if you can stretch out your budget, get the q6600 core 2 quad. they're about $20 more than the e6750. it should be able to handle adobe software with ease.
Indeed - that CPU will do ok with simultaneous tasks such as you listed, but the Q6600 will handle them with ease.
