Hi, I have been using 2 Dell Laptops for 3 years and now since i use my laptops for lots of hi def ts file editing they are starting to struggle to play the files. I am looking to spend around 1k -1500 on a new desktop with quad core and around 4-8 gigs of memory very high end video card for HI DEF playback 1tb 7200 HD and decent sound card and all the usual usb ports and firewire ports. And of course a decent mother board. I want a very fast cpu and a very high quality case for lots of cooling. I also need a moniter around 19 inch and above anyone have any suggestions on what i could get for my money?
You don't really need a high end graphics card to play High-def stuff, it's only really down to the CPU, and any reasonable dual core can get the job done for even high bandwidth 1080p files. Perhaps you could spend the money from the graphics card on getting a bigger monitor?
Case: Raidmax Smilodon Extreme(newegg.com) CPU: Intel Q6600(newegg.com) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R(newegg.com), OR if you are comfortable with open box(I am) you could get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131219R GPU: I guess a 9600GT will suffice. If I were building a PC right now, I would SERIOUSLY consider a ATI HD4850. PSU: Corsair 550VX(buy.com) Soundcard: The onboard sound is great Harddrive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148274 For a Monitor, the Dell monitors are great. They aren't that expensive either. Look on eBay, you can find brand new ones for less than retail.
Where do you go about getting hold of Dell monitors in the US? They're everywhere in the UK but none of the major US stores seem to stock them.
Yeah, I haven't seen them anywhere else. Most people buy direct from Dell. Actually nower days they have Kiosks at the mall, but I don't think you can physically take home anything from there. I think you just buy the system and they still ship it to you.
Kind of sad, because here they sell them at Dell for outrageous markup, and also at most PC component stores for a lot less.
