Need help burning IFO files to DVD in Nero (files were originaly shrinked)

    First I will start off by saying that I searched for existing threads and FAQs and unfortunately none of them helped. My issue is that I just downloaded video files from a torrent that were shrunk by DVD Shrink. Now when I go to play these files on my computer everything works fine, there is a animated menu and all episodes play perfectly. But when I go to burn in Nero I am having nothing but issues, even though the readme for these files say they will burn in Nero with no issues. Below are my steps with screenshots.

    1. I open Nero (my version is Nero Vision 4)and select Burn a DVD
    2. DVD burner opens (which I have never had issues for in the past)
    3. I select Add files and open the folder to add files to the project.

    4. I highlight all files and click OK (I have done this as well with just selecting the VTS files without the CD Icons)
    5.Once the files start loading I encounter the below error messages.

    6. I click OK through the error messages and the below will appear, with a total of 13 files.

    7. I will continue through the burning process but once it is burned everything will not play or look correctly.

    How do I get these files burned to look like how they play on my computer, with the menu and full working episodes.

    Doesn't look like you need Vision for this one. Looks like you files are already dvd compliant. You're getting the error when you add the bup & ifo files (information files basically). Vision creates it's own based on the dvd structure it will create.

    Use Burning Rom or Express - dvd-video option - to add the video_ts folder to burn and you should be good.

    Thanks it worked out great. Unfortunately it only worked on playing it on a computer (guess it was set up with PAL) any suggestions on how to possibly get it to NTSC so that I can play it on my DVD players?

    You can use the Vobblanker method - fast and works for most dvd players - link

    You could also use Vision for that - just add the vob files only - not the ifo or bup.
    You'll probably get a message when you add them saying something like more than 1 file share the same ..... (can't remember the wording) would you like to merge (again something along those lines). Click yes.
    When you get to the menu screen in the top right hand corner click the drop down to not create a menu.
    In the last screen of Vision you'll get a pop saying more PAL than NTSC do you wish to keep the PAL format - click No.

    Now for either method I can't guarantee the original menu will work. I usually just do movie only and remove the menu.

    Thanks again for the help...after reading VobBlanker seems the best/easiest route to take. I'll followup once done.

    Just one more question, with VOB blocker I am noticieng that the only files that show up are the VOB, which when previewed are only the menu. Will I follow the process of Nero Burning Rom as was suggested earlier to get the full DVD after processing the VOBblocker?

    Went ahead and ran the VOBblocker on the files that came up, I can play in a DVD player but once it tries to go to the actual video files and dvd menu I get the region playback error. So any thoughts?

    Ok when you open the ifo file in vobblanker does it then show the rest of the vob files listed under title set? Is PAL also listed as the video format?
    You'll need to right click on each one individually or have all highlighted and change the video attribute from PAL to NTSC.
    Then click process and burn these new files w/ Burning Rom or Express.

    When I get the files in VOBblanker I see a single VIDEO_TS.ifo file, it loads and then five VIDEO_TS.ifo files appear in the VOB app. I change everything to be NTSC and export into a new file. Upon the completion of the exporting all the original files are now showing up and it appears as if everything is changed. Then I run into my issue after the burn using Nero Express.

    When VobBlanker loads the ifo file does it look like the screen shot from the pic in the link above? It should look like that except the video format would say PAL.

    If it does sounds like your player may not like the vob method. So then you would need to use Vision. Vision actually does a 'true' conversion to NTSC.

    Here are the screenshots of my steps maybe I'm missing something.

    1. Open VOB app

    2. Open folder for IFO files (note only one VIDEO_TS is showing up)

    3. Load IFO file and five more appear in VOB app, convert all to NTSC.

    4. Click the Process button at the bottom, process begins.

    5. After process is complete all files from original destination are now located in a new folder.

    6. Follow burning steps from previous posts that worked fine but burnt them as PAL.

    Screenshots to take a look at above, and if I have to go vision what would be the way to do so without seeing the chopy and non complete files as I showed in my original screenshots?

    It doesn't look like all the files where added from what I can tell. VOB should 'guide' you to pick the ifo file. In the 2nd screen shot are you clicking on the video_ts file in the window?

    Set windows to show file extensions. Double click on my computer then in the toolbar go to tools>folder options>view tab. Under hidden files and folder check show hidden files and folders then click apply.

    Now for Vision you just want to add the vob files only. Usually this is all Vision brings up when you pick the video_ts folder. You'll get a message about some files sharing the properties so something along those lines - click ok so these are merged correctly.
    Again though I'm not sure Vision will handle the menu vob correctly but you can try. Just pick the option not to create a menu in Vision.
    Save it to you hard drive instead of burning 1st. Check the file on the pc 1st and see if the menu is functional.

    Just noticed why Vision is showing the ifo & bup files - change file type from 'all files' to 'all supported files' and only the vob files will show.

    Got it to work, but unfortunately all the video is all scrambled and off color, I think my DVD player just doesn't like the blocker. Found some OGG media stream files that look good that I'll try to figure out. Thanks again.

    Yeah Shrink is good but it won't convert PAL to NTSC. ConvertX will though but not free.
