n00b thread as it may seem. So by inspecting some of my latest threads, you guys are seeing I'm having problems with my graphics card. I do. It's dead, atleast I think it is. It's not working, and when I take it out of the computer and use my motherboard's VGA (instead of my graphics card's DVI-D) the computer works fine. It's a 7350 LE. I know, crap. So after various days of pointless chatter with: MSI, NVIDIA, and HP who were all bouncing us back and forward we can't get an RMA. We said 'fusk it. let's buy a new one' As much as we didn't like to... so Nvidia has this: http://www.nvidia.com/content/HelpMeChoose/fx2/HelpMeChoose.asp?lang=en-us Which is pretty useful. Last night I opened my computer and... tada. Wattage of 300. You guys are all pro enough to know that when you want a gaming rig, 300 will get you nowhere. I've had a talk with my dad about it and he says regardless of the price and how good the PSU is, he's not buying me a new one. A new GPU is all he's going to buy for me. Even though I don't play THAT many high end games on my computer it's always nice to have a good graphics card >_> The 24" monitor still makes up for it. So, what's the best deal I can get for a 300watt PSU when it comes to GPUs? Nvidia only gives me GT 220, 9400 GT, 8500 GT, 8400 GS. I heard they all suck balls. They can't be much worse (or better?) than the 7350 LE. Appreciated.
We need some info on your motherboard and CPU. PCI express 1.0 or 2.0? Run CPUz and post a screen shot.

After a lot of searching it going to be a ATI2400 or Nvidia 8400GS. You won't see a huge speed increase but you will have DirectX 10 and twice the RAM. The 8400gs has more technology features than the ATI card. And these cards have come way down in price. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4138178&CatId=1560
I didn't look at any Pci-e 2.0 because I notice Nvidia's card drawing more power with the newer models. I thought the same for ATI. The ATI 4670 is a better choice and consumes only 207 watts under load.
Yes it is the 4670 card. I notice they have 512MB and 1GIG card for under $80. Sweet! Newegg is even throwing in a free game with the Asus or gigabit 4670 card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...PA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=4670&x=0&y=0
True, but it's working fine except for... No sound. And all my recording devices are gone too! Why would I want to return it though?
Yes but what I don't get is how do I change the deafult sound devices? I just want to be able to hear sound normally again but I can't because the geforce card is taking it to the HDMI. It sucks. What do I do? Do I have to buy that cable? For some reason my Realtek Sound Manager doesn't even start up :|
