I need help finding a blu ray burner that will burn blu ray dl discs (50 gb type) can anyone recommend any
I have been looking for a good blu ray burner, supporting both XP and 7, but finding info online is often contradictory. I would thing of Plextor, Lite On, and LG (no particular order). Customer reviews are mixed or don't exist on NewEgg or Amazon on models for the mentioned brands. I looked on the LG wesite and can find NO SUPPORT or info for popular model numbers. Called them directly and the rep said all of their models work with XP and above. So WHY is the info NOT easier to find on their own website? I emailed them for a proper link to download the owners manual on the WH10LS30 model (supports DL). The rep said it WAS available on the website; it is NOT. Have not heard back from them in over a week. The Plextor PX-B940SA supports DL and both OS, but reviews vary wildly. And it's more costly. Lite On iHBS112/212 supports DL and both OS. The 112 model is available on NewEgg, not Amazon. Reviews vary wildly. The 212 model is available on Amazon - NO reviews; you can be first (sure). The 212 is out of stock on NewEgg and the ONE review was not good. I remain uncomitted and puzzled.
This is one I went with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-
The two Lite On models were on my list. I think the main difference between them is the Light Scribe feature. Light scribe is not a big deal to me. Felt that the reviews varied a lot; would have liked to see a greater number of positive comments. Which OS are you running? Mine is a dual boot setup; that's why I want it to positively work with both XP and 7. Price seems reasonable. What do you think of the 112 model? Thanks.
I'm running windows vista. The main thing I wanted the drive to do was to write dl blu rays since I'm going to backup my collection without any compression. I'm not a big light scribe guy either. I have a dvd light scribe drive and I'm not really all that impressed. It takes forever and the results aren't all that great. I'll go to a printable dvd if I want to go a different route than the sharpie. I also liked the drive I purchased because it also comes with comes with some blank blu ray media. I'll take thoes whenever I can get em! I just bought a 10 pack of blu ray dl Verbatim's from Amazon for $88.00 with free shipping which seemed like a really good deal to me.
