I want to build a new PC to make it my home media center. Watching, ripping, decoding movies. Mabey some photoshop but I'm not into gaming. I'm not sure what processor or mother board to go with. I have a total budget of $1500. I have only picked out my case and speakers.

I want the Logitech Z-5500 speakers
and the antec P182 case because I want it to be as quiet as possible.

    What are your suggestions?

    Thanks

the quad core will be great for ripping and encoding/decoding movies and photoshop work. the motherboard is an excelent overclocker and can take the q6600 over 3ghz with proper cooling. do you also want a tv tuner?

To post URLs, just cut and paste the link, don't bother with the square bracket url command.

That RAM's pretty good, though I haven't used it myself. I use two sets (four sticks) of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034
I'm not sure what would be best for overclocking.

For the heatsink I'd say the Freezer 7 Pro or the Xigmatek.
