i have the sony dru-500a dvd+/- r/rw burner...i've read the tutorials for burning a dvd to dvd-r but primo dvd doesn't support the sony burner yet, or maybe it does and someone can help me. for the dru-500a users, how are you burning your dvd's to dvd-r?
I use 2 methods. For over 4500meg (dvd 9) disks use simple dvd ripping method. for dvd less than 4500 meg i use a direct rip method. If you email me i can send you the instructions. They are easy to read with pics of the exact settings and will allow you to have a great copy of your purchased dvd movie. The instructions are too big to post here is why I say email me for them. this will work with your dvd burner
I can use the Sony-supplied software (forgot the name), I now just use a recent edition of Nero. No worries. I got the DRU working properly after replacing the the Intel LAN card with a 3Com, setting the DMA to PIO, and flashing the BIOS of the DRU unit. It would not work properly out-of-the-factory. Not only would XP *not* crash every 10 minutes after the flash, I now get to burn 4.7G DVD-R's at 2x speed (in 30min). I am still not entirely satisfied with the solutions that are now known to split >4.7Gb's to 2 discs or strip all (audio <> Stereo/Dolby5.1) and strip menus and (C) notices (some of them get to be BIG these times), to reduce size to <=4.7Gb without remuxing/re-encoding (which I definitely do NOT want to do). I'm waiting for DVD2SVCD to get an extra option: DVD2DVD47 I'm on the thing, and if worked out, will post on floris.net fnaaijkens@ultihouse.com
