I lost my hard drive and trying to find a copy of: Click to DVD™ to put back on my Vaio computer. I purchased on ebay, no backup disk and the hard drive failed. I was able to get most fo the other software I use except the Click to DVD™. I need that for my camera. Thanks Nick
Like me, I'm sure you did a diligent search of the web for the software. Unfortunately, it looks as if it only comes bundled with the Vaio PC. If you've already tried contacting Sony and they told you to bugger off, then hopefully someone with a Vaio install disk will make a copy & give/sell it to you.
Yes you hit it on the nail. I have some people looking around for people with Vaio, if I come across it will let you know, but so far no good. Think they would just sell it.
see if this works for you: http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/perl/swu-list.pl?template=EN&mdl=PCVV300G But good luck. I have a new Sony Viao (PCV-V300G all-in one desktop computer) with built in dual format DVD writer & 200gig HD. I can't get the "Click to DVD" program to work at all. I tried downloading an installing the upgrade from the link above, but had the very same problem. It opens and says wait . . . initializing and then either closes or displays one of thoses wonderfully intuative messages "ctodvd has encountered a problem and needs to close . . ." Sony support does not make self-help info easy to come by.
Hmmm, I think you have slightly more of a problem now, usgov. It seems that most (all?) of the Sony applications on the Vaio are preloaded at the factory. They don't supply a Setup disk. You're supposed to make your own Recovery Media kit with their Recovery Wizard (also preloaded) and preferably burn it to CD. I'm guessing you never made a Recovery Media kit after receiving your Vaio. They also provide an update to "Click to DVD", but you need the original installed first. They DO give detailed instructions on reloading everything. The link in the above post takes you to the Sony site, click on "Clean Install" near the top right of that screen. If you DO get hold of a Recovery Media kit, you will need those instructions. Unfortunately for you, it's a case of "shutting the barn door after yadda.. yadda ....." etc. Now you need to find someone who made a Recovery Media kit and get a copy. I have a couple of folks looking. If I get lucky, I'll let you know & figure out getting it to you. It sucks losing software to a HD crash. I know from experience. Perhaps Sheariah has a big heart & will send a copy of her (his?) Recovery Media Kit.
Yes I agree and thanks for the help. I appreciate it. I always said I got to back it up but always put it off. Never again. Thanks once again
My VAIO came with restore CDs, including a separate one for Click To DVD. Since I've never even installed it you'd be more than welcome to it if you were close enough to come pick it up. Since I doubt you're in Iowa that's probably not a realistic option, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
Well, If you do not mind, If you could burn me a copy and mail it to me. If you have a paypal account I could send $5.00 to cover it. **email address removed** Thanks
I don't have a PayPal account, but I think my wife does. Don't worry about a copy though. let me dig it up and I'll send the original. I have no use for it anyway. Oh, and in the future don't post your email address. It's against the rules
usgov: Sorry, I haven't been online for a few days. I'm glad you found some help. I would have sent you a copy of my recover cd's (dvd) but I had to see if I could find it. I finally did and reloaded CLick to DVD and installed the upgrades from the website and finally got it to run, but it crashes a lot and when I finally got it to process a movie for me, it said it would take over 6 hours for the one movie, then something happened and it never finished. ANother bad thing is that you must have a blank recordable dvd in the burner for it to work, then when it crashes, you've wrecked another dvd - they make very expensive coasters! It's a great program in theory if only I could get it to work (and not take a lifetime). I know Sonic's MyDVD is much faster but haven't re-installed it on my new computer. I had it on my old computer but bought the Sony Vaio because the old one burned up it's power supply. If you still need the recovery cd's, let me know, but you may have to wait a few days for me to read your post.
I am waitng on the CD but still could use the recovery CD's if you do not mind. I do not know how I can send you my address as I am new with this. Thanks
I am new on this forum too. Any moderators out there who can tell us how to contact since email addys cannot be posted?
Right side of your post or usgov's post is an icon of a person/head. That is the PM (private message) function.
To Verbul & usgov (or anyone really): I am looking for a "click to dvd" recovery disk for my Vaio laptop GRX 670. If someone doesn't mind answering, a question or two. I need the "click to DVD" recovery disk so I can continue my install of application recovery disks. You can't continue the reload without it. Will the recovery disks work in all PCGs? Or must they be model-specific? The whole recovery disk set is sold by Sony for $22.95 plus shipping, but I just need the one and am glad to send a money order in advance just to borrow one to burn. Thanks.
