I'm currently running Windows Vista Home Premium with a LightScribe DVD drive which came by default with my HP Pavilion a6098d.

I was trying to burn a few files using the data disc option with nero, but this is the error log I got:

Too fast, try burning at 4x max.

Switch to DVD disks that say 'Made in Japan' on the package or 'Verbatim'

Thanks, but what do you mean too fast? I've tried it at 4x but it's still like that.

I've tried 2 types of DVD+Rs. Both of them give me the same answer. I can burn .isos using MagicISO however. I just can't create Data Discs

    Track following error

This generally means your laser can't follow the tracks on the disk.

It's possible your laser is dirty. Try cleaning with a some canned air and a cd/dvd lens cleaner.

Thanks. but I can still burn .iso images and CDs.

How do I take out the drive and clean it?

    This is from Nero's website:

    8. Why do I get a 'Track following error' message?

The "Track following error" message is a hardware error. It can be caused by the following:

Poor media - Try more than one brand of CD-R media to rule this out as cause.
Poor power - The electric power supply of your recorder could be fluctuating. If you have an internal recorder, try a different power connector and make sure it's not being shared by any other devices. If you have an external recorder, remove it from the external chassis, if you can, and connect it on your system as an internal recorder. If this resolves your issue, you need to replace or service the power source in your external chassis.
Optical head is dirty or needs alignment - Please contact your recorder manufacturer to service your unit.

No need to remove the drive from your computer.

To clean your drive; you can give it a canned air experience - open the tray and blow it out with canned air. I'd then get and use a CD/DVD Lens Cleaner (they're cheap, $5 US maybe) and use that periodically. It looks like a cd and has brushes on it to clean the laser lens.

BTW, this is in addition to what attar recommended.

It still doesn't work. I ran the Hardware Diagnostic Tools by PC-Doctor and the drive worked FINE. But still the problem isn't solved.
