Hello, I am trying to install my HP DesignJet 650C (C2859B)but I can't find any software for it. I have the drivers but I can't get my computer to find it. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

It is xp. I already have the drivers for it. The problem is we just bought this printer for $50 but it didn't come with any software. It was used before we got it to do blueprints and stuff but we want to use it to print banners and stuff for my wife's bookstore. I hook it up using an ethernet cable but I can't find it in the printers tab when I try to add the printer. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks again for your help ddp.

why are you using an ethernet cable, doesn't it have a parallel port or usb port? did you install the software 1st then connect to printer cable when asked by software?

I'm using an ethernet cable because that is what the previous owners said they used. I have not installed any software yet because I can't find it and the others owners do not have it anymore. It is too old to have a USB port but it does have a parallel port and I'm going to try that on Monday. Thanks for your time.

    1. Desgnjets were originally sold as cheaper alternatives for plotters.

    2. You won't "find" any software for it unless you find some ancient application that supports that printer.

    3. Most of the software and custom drivers for this printers are for CAD.

I think you just bought a really nice doorstop. You would have been better off buying an inkjet printer and roll paper for banners.

@ddp, this model Designjet supports a Jetdirect card and I suspect theirs has one installed.

make certain your pc's printer port is enabled so that when you attach the parallel cable, windows should find it automatically or just go thru the "add printer" steps in xp. it is listed there as i checked it in my xp.

I have been using my 650C(C2859B) for years on XP pro and home.
I can't get the Jetdirect to work but it works fine on parallel.
The drivers are out there somewhere, if you can't find them let me know and I’ll look them out.
