alright, this is the situation. i have a solderless chameleon chip. i get the blue linux screen during which the eject button lights up red, yellow, then back to green and the dvd tray gets ejected. i made a bios disc (memorex CD-RW) in ISO/UDF format and renamed the 'evoxm7.bin' file to 'linuxbio.bin' and added a 'dummy.bin' file as well. when i insert the disc, it begins to read. it says "Loading linuxboot.cfg from CDROM..." and freezes there. can anybody help me???

I had the same problem. Here's the deal. In the screwed order in which things worked poorly at first, and flawlessly immediately afterwards.

    1. Installed chip
    2. Installed ANY bios, named the file both linuxbio.bin AND linuxboo.bin, threw on a 200 meg dummy file onto a cd-rw
    3. Found out that the chip liked the bios so much, disabled the chip and was looking for a linux boot file
    4. Changed the pins on the chip itself until I was working with bank two (2)
    5. Used M7 bios instead of cromwell or linux ANYthing
    6. Booted up with a brand spankin new screen
    7. Used slayer auto installer minus the crappy dvd movie player
    8. Happier than sex

I'd read through the user manual just to be sure about everything you're doing, but as for the pins, drop the fourth pin, and you will boot in the second bank. Then just use a cdrw and a 200 meg dummy file with the M7 bios, and everything will just turn to cream cheese.

But you can't flash any other bank than the first using the cromwell screen.. to flash the other bioses you'll have to do it within the evox menu!

OK! I FINALLY got the flashing part done. but now when i turn on the console, it goes back to the original xbox bios. do i have to play around with the dip switches? and what do i do w/ the evox dash that i guess i have to install...i downloaded slayer's autoinstaller v2.5 final but don't know what to do with it.

It goes back to the original menu but it's normal. The chip is working great anyway! Slayer need to be burned on a CD-RW or a DVD then you put it in to install the new menu! If you try a backed up game right now it should work!
