Sometimes when I back up a movie and decrypt it I get one IFO file and one main VOB file which I can convert. Lately I have been getting the following files when I back up a movie VTS_01_1.VOB 1,048,574 mb VOB file VTS_01_2.VOB 1,048,574 mb VOB file VTS_01_3.VOB 1,048,574 mb VOB file VTS_01_4.VOB 1,048,574 mb VOB file and for IFO VTS_01_0.IFO 118kb IFO file (the sizes vary per movie) The IFO's convert fine. However, each VOB file is about 25 minuets or so of the movie. How can I combine all the VOB files into one file that I can convert. Also, I use Auto GK, to convert, but it takes almost 5 hours is there a better IFO/VOB converter that is free out there. I have tried SUPER, but it does not seem to work to well.
I'm not sure why it would matter, but in DVD Decrypter under Tools -> Settings -> File Mode -> File Splitting you can specify 'None'. If for example there are two titles on the DVD they will be combined into one large VOB.The menu and other files are untouched. However when the files are brought into the likes of 'DVD Shrink' they will again show up as separate titles. Something to do with the DVD structure which want's files of 1,048,574 MB.?? EDIT:I just checked the large VOB file with Nero and TMPGenc. Nero will import the large VOB, but not TMPGenc. It will only import the first 1GB of the large VOB and ignore the remainder. I guess that's one reason for leaving the setting at 1GB in Decrypter, but the option is there for a reason that is not expained.
thanks. So what do I do with the existing vob files? can they still be combined into one big vob vile? Or should I re-decrypt the files again with the decrypter settings you mentioned. Basically, what Im doing is taking a dvd and backing it up with Ripit4me, then with the left over vob or ifo files I want to convert them to avi. I then have an avi to mpeg converter. I take the mpeg file and transfer it to my PSP. I use autogk to covert IFO files, and Xcopy pro to convert the avi to mpeg. Do you know a faster way to do this.
Up front, I don't know anything about Playstation requirements, but it seems to me that you are going through too many steps. Ripping the DVD to VOB's (which are really MPEGS) then converting them to AVI (compressing) then converting them back to MPEG. Take a look at this: http://seamonkey420.tech-recipes.com/psp/dvd_to_psp.html It looks like it covers the technique of ripping DVD to PSP using freeware. and if that doen't help, try one of the PSP forums on Afterdawn.
I tried that setting in decrpyter, "no splitting" but this time when I used Ripit4me, it seperated them into 5 VOBs with over a million kb. I just bought Casino Royal 007 movie, and sent it through Ripit4me, a sub folder was created and that is where I am finding all the seperate VOB files along with the IFO and BUP files. Should I just run dvd decrypter alone, or maybe use FAB decrypter to combine all the vob's into one file? I had found a cool trick though, if you change the .vob extension to .mpeg straight from the file itself and save it you will instantly covert the vob into an mpeg, and it can be converted into the avi format. You have to agree the error message that you understand it may not work, but it does.
Yes renaming .vob to mpeg often works. Ripit4me, DVD Decrypter and DVDFab Decrypter are all basically the same DVD Decrypter is the oldest and may not cope with the newer protection schemes on some dvd's. The guide in the link suggested DVD Decrypter, but if you have another app which does essentially the same, then that sounds ok. I don't have anything else to offer as far as what you are trying to do ie convert a dvd for PSP.All I can suggest is Google 'dvd to psp' and try for a support group. Good luck!
I'm totally new at torrents, etc. And all this other stuff. I've just downloaded a season of tv episodes in a group of 6 disks - each of the folders (a folder per disk)contains lots of BUP, IFO, VOB files and a text file. I presume there are several episodes on one disk. How do I view these on my computer?
