I am trying to make a dvd of a television series i have downloaded. I have converted the files using divx2dvd. I then opened up the files with dvdshrink but there is no need for compression as the total size of the files is 4.066 gigs. the are listed as 7 diferent tracks which i beleive is right since there are 7 different episodes. The problem is when i try to use nero vision express 2 (came with my drive), I can get 4 files on but when i try to add the 5th it is over the limit and drops the video quality. When I add the 7th it drops it again to slp. I went ahead and burnt the disc but the picture becomes pixlated at some points that it looks terrible. Why does this happen if all the episodes were small enough to fit on a disc in dvd shrink. somebody please help out a newb. thanks in advance
sorry, i could have sworn that i'd replied already. You probably just need to tweak some settings. post your Nerovision log, i think it's in c:\program files\ahead\nerovision\nerovision.txt or maybe in c:\documents and settings\<username>\etc etc etc , but DO NOT post your serial number, which usually begins with '1A21' or similar
nah i just noticed that someone else had a similar question that you replied to, so your not going crazy here is my log Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 7/22/2004 5:33:44 PM Nero API version: 6.3.1.26 Using interface version: 6.3.1.11 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\NeroVision Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S>Version: KS04 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.26 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : HDS722540VLAT20 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S D: CDRom0 SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 510MB (522240kB) Free physical memory: 132MB (136140kB) Memory in use : 73 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 7.8.2005 NeroAPI 4:38:47 AM #1 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files sorted 4:38:48 AM #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 126 Reader running 4:38:48 AM #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S running 4:38:48 AM #4 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:38:48 AM #5 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:38:48 AM #6 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3152 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 4:38:48 AM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 247 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2099071 (466:27.46, 4099MB) 4:38:48 AM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 4:38:48 AM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2162 Recorder: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. that'll be it then!.... - that's way old now, latest is 6.6.016 - version KS09 is out - download and apply this - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2056 - a-ha, the infamous XP 'feature'. 6 errors and the DMA mode gets dropped to PIO mode. fix it here - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm - make sure sure to free up more memory by closing down more programs prior to burns - the biggest a-ha by far. You're using THE most appalling, atrocious terrible quality discs there are. use decent discs such as Verbatim [bold]datalifeplus[/bold]
no worries. it's easy, the hardest bit is buying some good discs, updating the bits n' pieces is the easy (cheap!) bit. good luck and let me know how you get on
