I just purchased a Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD recorder and was trying to enter a cable channel "501" into the timer recording program. It only allows me to go upto 50, or I can enter "L1" "L2" or "L3". I have cable service, so I wouldn't have "VCR Plus". Any assistance greatly appreciated!
You need to tune into channel 501 on your cable receiver. Your cable reciever should be connected to your DMR-E55 via Line 1 in, Line 2 in, etc... Whichever line in your cable reciver is connected to is the channel you need to program the recorder to. The recorder can not change the channel to your cable receiver. Example: On mine - HBO is channel 501, and the cable receiver is plugged into Line 1 on the recorder. When I program a movie to be recorded, I have to change the reciver channel to 501 and program the recorder to record Line 1. Then turn the recoder off.
