I have a PC with 196 MB SDRAM and wanted some more. I bought a 168-Pin DIMM chip of 128 MB PC133. The pc detects it as only 64 MB. I tried to update the bios but the problem still exists.
The motherboard model is pcpartner BXA839D.
    Any suggestions?

Is your old ram PC-100 or PC-133. AFAIK the two don't mix.

I have 2 other SDRAM on my system. The one is of 64 MB PC100 and the other one is of 128 MB PC133. It sounds a little strange but using those two different types the system was working just fine.

Try to remove other two memory modules and install just the new one alone. Does it still say only 64 MB? Are you sure you really got a 128 MB module? Try it in your friends PC.

I installed it alone and it still says 64 MB. I have tried it on onother pc and it is working just fine. I have contacted Kingston which is the product company of that specific ram and their reply is as follows:
    ------------------------------------
The problem is that the type of dram chips used to build the
KVR133X64C3/128 are not compatible with your motherboard. The memory that
is built with compatible dram chips is KVR100X64C2/128, but even that would
have to be double-sided (16 dram chips used to build it). You should
return the module to the store for a refund and shop for the correct
memory. Kingston is currently out of stock on that particular build. No
ETA on when we might have them again.
    -------------------------------------

I am currently using this ram in my system and except from the size I do not have any other problems.
Thanks a lot for your replies,
    have a nice fay.
