    Hi all. I just put together a new machine and I have not followed new processors since about the time of the amd 64. The new specs are;
    AMD 2600 Barton 333
    Asus A7N8X-X
    Corsair pc3200 4000 ddr (2x512)
    450 power supply
    antec lanboy case
    win xp home 2nd edition

    I have not gone through and attached the round cables and make it all neat. Today it was shutting down and gave me a message about the clock speed. I set it to 166, though not sure where it had been. It seems ok now, but it's overall a bit slow booting and I am wondering what settings I need to check for optimal performance? I don't mean to overclock anything, just standard should be better. I am using an older hdd for the time being, so I think the new will help. I am thinking multipliers, memory settings, voltage, etc. Can anyone give me a rundown of what to check and what normal ranges are? Thanks.

    Check the Corsair website for the latency settings for your RAM. I don't know anything about AMD processors, but I do know that for Corsair RAM, you can't let the computer automatically pick the settings for you. You have to manually set them, for optimum performance.
