I recently purchased a new computer with Vista Basic on it.It has 512 memory on it.The manufacturers name for the motherboard is: ECSRC415ST-HM. HP/Compaq name:Alhena5-GL6.Under memory it says it supports PC2-3200{400MHz}PC-4200{533 MHz}and PC2-5300 {667 MHz} DDR2 DIMMs.How much more memory should I get & which kind of memory for the above specs? Also, this computer takes forever to start up & shut down. How can I speed this process up?I was told by someone to check & see how much is starting up?How do you do this & what should you stop from loading up when you start your computer? Also, every now & then when it finally loads up,my screen turns blue but with no error messages.I can click out of it, then I start the whole process over again.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
you should of got Home Premium instead of Home Basic increase your ram to at least 2 to 4 GB of system memory as vista is a resource hog.......... heres a read about vistaThe Vista experience is broken. It's long past time to fix it. http://www.microsoft-watch.com/content/vista/broken_windows.html?kc=MWRSS02129TX1K0000535
