Need Help

    Is there anyway I can burn an xvid file from my computer onto a DVD so it can be watched on a stand alone DVD player?

    Just started to go through the guide and I have realised that the file is an .avi file - is there a guide which works with avi files as that one doesn't?

    It shouldn't make a difference. Just follow the guide :)

    That's what I did, but when it came to opening the file which you want to create the DVD from it gives an error saying:

    "File can not open, or unsupported"

    I tried a different avi file and it opened that ok - why will it not open this particular file? It's an xvid avi file

    Hmmm, tried the soultions in that order, but I'm haivng trouble even opening the file in Virual Dub ! It says:

    "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown)
    Virtual Dub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs such as those used by Windows Media Player are unsuitable"

    PLease help... you've all been ace so far !

    Thanks - I have downloaded the codec, but don't for the life of me know how to install it - I have read the very basic instructions - is there not a simple way to do it?

    Ok - I have followed the guide and it has just finished creating the mpeg. I thought I'd watch it just to check the quslity and it appears lsightly jerky. Not massively so, but it's noticeable... any ideas why? Could there have been a setting somewhere - I followed the guide exactly.

    any ideas why the mpeg that was created is jerky in comparison to the original .avi file?
