Hi, Recently, my other computer's internet stopped working. When I open up firefox, it just says unable to connecto the server. If I try to repair the connection, it says failed to query TCP/IP settings. It appears that my computer is not getting a IP address. If I run cmd and type ipconfig /all, it just says Windows IP Configuration, nothing else. I am connected to the internet through a Linksys router but I believe it is my computer's problem because the other computers (such as the one I am typing on now), all have internet connection. I have tried resetting the router, rebooting the computer, and system restore to the last day that I had internet. How can I fix this problem? Thanks, Sam
are you using a wireless adapter or are you connected to the router directly with ethernet cable? what kind of wireless adapter are you using?
this is the solution if you have windows XP sp2 if you don't, i don't know what to do: go to start -> run type in cmd and press enter when the window opens, type in "netsh winsock reset" (without the quotes) press enter and restart your computer when it boots, open cmd again and type in "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" (without the quotes) Then press ENTER and restart your computer again. Now it should be working
when you type this in.. when it boots, open cmd again and type in "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" (without the quotes) Then press ENTER and restart your computer again. Is it suppose to go back to a c> prompt? Mine didn't And I can't seem to get mine fixed.
after you type the commands in, you wait for the computer to do them you wait until the prompt comes back up again. then restart your computer
Okay, I did wait and once it was done I restarted but that did not fix my problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to fix this. I can't uninstall and reinstall the TCP/IP as I don't have the Windows XP disk. My computer has been down almost a week and no idea how to get this fixed. I've even done a system restore and that didn't fix it.
