I'm looking to make a backups of all my DVDs. Currently I have an internal DVD Writer DVD200j which came preinstalled. What's your opinion of this driver as far as performance, durability, and quality. Is this good enough or should I purchase another one for someone who wants to take burning DVDs seriously. If there is a better one on the market, please suggest..

    Thanks in advance.

Thats made by HP and is a +R burner only. If you have an older dvd player that you intend to play your backups on it may only play -R blanks. The 200j is ok for what it does but I don't think of it as one of the better burners. My first picks would be a Plextor or Pioneer dual format (+ & -) and possibly also add the dual layer feature too. Your burner will burn ok dvd's in the + format. Good luck.
