I'm looking to make my own external slim dvd burner for my laptop and need some recommendations. I'm condidering a NEC external case to connect it via usb. Thanks. Brian
You may want to consider a normal size external dvd writer. The slimline ones tend to break much more easily and fail etc.. However, if you do choose to go with slimline, then I reccomend you get a drive with at least 16x burn speed. That drive is only 8x and will strugle to burn newer medias, and as 8x media is proving hard to get nowadays, you're pretty much stuck. Enclosure looks fine to me.
