The wife has given me the go ahead to start piecing together a Analog Capture PC - converting VHS tapes to DVD and recording some TV for the mother-in-law on DVD. So far I have: Asus P4P800-E mobo using the 478 socket -$111 US Intel Pent 4 2.8ghz processor (478 socket) $166 XFX nVidia GeForce FX 5200/256MB DDR/8x AGP -$90 [bold]or[/bold] Radeon 9600XT/256MB DDR/8x AGP -$120 Hauppauge Win TV-PVR 250 /Ir remote -$116 Canopus ACEDVIO PCi card -$175 2x WD 200gb HD's Already have a dvd-rom and a Pioneer AO7 On the video cards which one would you reconmend? I'm leaning more towards the GeForce because of the 256k but have no prior experience with either board. On one of the post's it was receonmended to get both the Hauppauge and the Canopus cards as one has the a TV tuner and the other was better at analog capture. welcome any and all comments - TIA
why not use your current computer as in your sig for doing tapes & recording & make the new 1 for yourself
the current one will be for surfing the internet and what ever else. The new one will be a stand alone and not hooked to the internet for DVD back up as well as VHS tape and TV capture. I guess I should have mad it clear our intentions.
