Need Some Kind Of Video Compressor!!!!

I hooked up my VCR to my computer and recorded a movie via my video in/out in my webcam. But when the movie finished it was over 2GB. That is obviosly too much to burn onto a CD-R or a (S)VCD. To make a (S)VCD I use DivFix, VirtualDub and TMPGEnc. But none of those compress the raw video. If anyone has a soloution please post it here.

 

Re-encode the file and use a bitrate that will give you the desired finished size.

 

I'm pretty retared when it comes to encoding videos so I will require some more detailed steps.
