Sounds like you need to go shopping for an OLD disk burner with the capabilities you say you need. My wife uses an older system with Win 98 on it that has an OLD cd burner. That burner works (just fine, too) at 1x, 2x, or 4x. The machine came from Dell; is about 5-10 years old. I have no idea what brand it might be and if you can even find similiar units today. Try looking on eBay or contact Dell or . . . ?

So, why won't a faster, more modern unit get the job done for you?
