I'm interested in investing some money into a new upconverting DVD player but I having some trouble on making a final decision. I have decided to steer clear of Blu-Ray for now and just go with a good 1080p upconverting player. I think I have narrowed it down to two that I like. The Pioneer Elite DV-48AV or an OPPO player. Can anyone else help me out here? Maybe give suggestions on which to go with or maybe even a different player that is not listed. Please let me know. BTW, I just want a good 1080p player with good surround audio and a very good, clean and clear picture. My surround sound is run off of my HDTV via an optical cable. The TV that I am using is a 42" Vizio LCD 1080p HDTV. So I will connect the DVD player via an HDMI cable. Thanks in advance!
I think you will be very happy with the OPPO's Best prices found at Amazon (except newest 983 - only from Oppo)
Do you have a personal opinion on the Pioneer Elite? I can get a brand new one with the 2 year manufacturer warranty for only $150 shipped.
Sorry, but I know nothing about the Pioneer. I do know for a fact that the Oppo's are top rated and a friend of mine has a Oppo 980 and just loves it. However, I found someone else's opinions. Worth a look http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archive/index.php/t-957045.html
I edited my previous reply and found what you are looking for. Please take a read. It will be worth your time !
Oppo all the way, I have a couple friends who own Oppo units, they love them. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
I can't see any reason why the oppo would not upconvert dvd burns. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say yes it would.
