Hey guys, I hope you can help. Basically, ive got a bunch of 200mb avi files totalling around 4gig, so it would be great to fit these all on one dvd. Is there a way this can be done? Im sure Ive seen it done before, but whichever way i encode the files, they balloon to around 800mb each! why cant I just retain the same size, like i would with a vcd? Surely a dvd can just be treated like a big cd?? am i wrong? Any help would be massively appreciated!!
You would only get the same size for VCD if the files were all 20mins. If you want them the same size then leave them as is, don't touch them, just burn them. If you want to re-encode them and keep the same size then you simply need to use the same bitrate. Expect the quality to drop a fair bit though.
yeah thats what i did, but i lose the menu facility you get when burning vcds (since im just burning a dvd data disc). do you know any way i can get a tool that will allow me to build custom menus, that i could just burn onto the disc in addition to the video files? thanks for your help!
