Copy Dvd's from where to where? Yes you can burn data onto a DVD. You can zip the folders then burn. BUT, you must have a DVD burner.

A 7-9Gb load of files is not gonna compress by that much using WinZip

    6.5Gb from 7Gb I reckon

Is the software installed on your HD now? If so, try to zip and see how much it is compressed. Then go from there.
If not on HD then I havent heard of any programs that will compress software like dvd movies.

Sorry, it is not possible to put 7-9GB of data onto one 4.7GB disc as there is no compression software capable of compressing that much data. You could copy the DVD if there were duel layer DVD writers, but sadly not.
