Hi I have an athlon 64 x2 4600, vista home premium, 160 sata hd, 100 free, on board nvidia , 6150 i believe "close", when i burn a data dvd, i can not get over 3800mb on a 4.7 dvd, it kicks out , will not burn, any ideas? If i stay around 3500 it usually works. Nero loaded by builder., system 2 months old. thanks
Hi rc1489 Post your last nero log. You can find it here - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory. Just need the last one and be sure to edit out the serial # - being w/ 1A, 1C or 5C. Which version of Nero are you running though? Only Nero 7.7.5.1 and after is Vista compatible.
Thanks I guess i have the wrong one, the builder put on Nero Essentials 3.2.3.2 It does burn how ever, maybe not to the full extent,m unless i had the speed set set wrong? I can notfind any "history" listed under core? It shows Nero 7, but i can not locate any version info other than when i open Nero, then it shows the 3.2.3.2 under about.?
If you are using Vista, then it's located elsewhere, however I forgot to bookmark the location...someone will come along with the info.
Hmmmm sounds like you have Nero 7 but that version # I think is for one of the apps w/ nero - looks like an older one. Update to the latest - 7.9.6.0 The history log is a text file in the core folder. It would say something like NeroHistory.log, NeroHistory.txt. What speed are you burning at? Try burning at 8x the rated speed of the media.
@binkie7, I have sent you a PM...aparently the log is located elsewhere when using Vista???? This is the thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/521894 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/521894/3154946
Don't know - guess rc1489 well have to tell us. I have Vista just haven't installed it - maybe next year @rc1489 if you can't find it in the core folder do a windows search for NeroHistory - it should pop up then and show the path. Let us know if the path is different for Vista.
In the Nero 7 program embedded there is Nero Burning Rom 7.5.13.1, what ever that relates to, i can find no log any where, in the Nero 7???? No history that i can find and search does not list it. screen shot apprently can not be uploaded? thanks I have only burned 4 or 5 so i'll try another and adjust the speed to 1- 16 x, i think it said auto detect?
I tried another one under capacity and it still said more data than disk will allow, Some of these are .mov files, and some jpgs, so do the .mov files take up more even though it does not show on the interface it is up to limit? 1x16 thanks
It's not Nero 7, it's Vista. The only time I can get an error log is right after the error happens (A window opens).
Update Nero you're running a version that isn't Vista compatible. For the log - I would think it's still saved somewhere in the Core folder. Gwen pm'd a link where another member said in the Core folder there's something call compatible links and they found the log there. A single layer disc holds 4465 mb. - so when adding files don't exceed that amount - Nero's bar should go in the red when you add more then the disc will hold. What media are you using? Like Sony +R 16x. Burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the media. Here's another program to try - it's a good free burner - . Use the build mode to add the files.
Thanks When i loaded a process to burn last night the interface bar showed under the limit, then after a short period, the error message came up saying the disk woud not hold that much, i have never been able to burn at capacity, so i guess the builder gave me a bad version? The media is DVD+R 1X16 129MB VIDEO, 4.7gb data, maybe they don't mix? I bth .mov files and data. MAXELL BRAND. No history log to be found, unless you are talking about a copy of a burn saved?

Hmmm the log location for Vista is driving me crazy Update Nero though to the latest version. Maxell uses several manufacturers - some good some not. That may be part of the problem for only burning to a certain point on the disc. Pop a blank in the drive then in Nero SmartStart go to Tools>InfoTool. Click on the disc info tab - that will show who made them. Post that back. Let's check the firmware on the drive too. Click on the drive tab and there will be a field there listing the firmware version. Post back the make, model and firmware version. May need an update. The different file types shouldn't increase in size when doing a data dvd. Thats sounding more like a Nero issue - the update may help this. Give ImgBurn a try too - here's a link(screwed up the one in my post above)
Layers 1 supported speeds 16 12 8 6 4 2.4 x 4.38 capacity----- says 4.7 on disk front RICHO JPN RO3 BLANK DVD +R CAPACITY N/A BLANK CAPACITY 4.38 This was an interesting adventure Yes the history log, are you referring to a saved copy of a burn that i would keep if i wanted for another burn. i see no NERO HISTORY, Will the new download over write this one? thanks
Yeah the difference in the size is because in the computer world at gig is 1024 mb not 1000 mb in the retail world so the disc will hold up to 4.28 gig of data. Ricoh is good stuff imho - one of the better ones Maxell uses. The nero log - I trying to check with someone how runs Vista on where they are located. There somewhere I just don't know where! When Nero is done or errors out is will give you a popup asking if you want to save the log. Next time pick yes and save it yo your desktop to copy and paste here. How about the make, model and firmware version of the drive? Yes updating nero will overwrite the 1st one. You may just want to do a clean install to be on the safe side. Uninstall Nero - run the clean tool. Reboot. Now install the latest of Nero
Here is a log, but it may not be what you need---- delete it if not I have VISTA Home Premium, not xp, i just found this by typing in nero log error.. .--------------------- 4C87-2018-2045-477K-055X-403E-9539-**** (*) Windows XP 6.0 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 12:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.5.13.1 Internal Version: 7, 5, 13, 1 (Nero Express) Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H> Version: LL06 - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.5.13.1 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ? Yep that's it! This one is a successful cd burn and verification but good enuf for now That's ok the log showing XP 6.0 - Just Nero's way of saying Vista Update Nero or do a clean install - you version isn't a Vista compatible one. Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H> Version: LL06 Update the firmware to the latest - LLOB File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Roxio and Nero don't always play well together so uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool
OK i guess i need find you a DVD burn or your satisfied with what you saw, i just need upgrade? thanks
The log above is good for now - do the updates and uninstall of Roxio. Hopefully one will do the trick. If not when Nero asks if you want to save a log click yes and save it like to your desktop then post it.
