I'm running Windows 98 SE on a Pentium III and using Nero. It's been working fine forever. However, recently, the registry messed up and Windows restored a previous one. Since then, I can't burn cdr disks. I've uninstalled and re-installed half a dozen times. I've done a complete cleanup as suggested by Nero support. Same result. What's strange is that if I burn the compilation to a cr-rw, it works fine but if I try to burn to a cdr, I get an error. Below is a copy of the error I get after the burn attempt stops: ===================================================================== Windows 98 4.10 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=45056 bytes, created 05/06/2003 6:21:26 PM Nero Version: 5.5.10.56 Recorder: < CD-R/RW RW7060A> Version: 1.80 - HA 0 TA 0 - 5.5.10.56 Adapter driver: <ESDI_506> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: < CD-R/RW RW7060A>Version: 1.80 - HA 0 TA 0 - 5.5.10.56 Adapter driver: <ESDI_506> HA 0 Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-R/RW RW7060A (Target 0, D: Autoinsert Off, DMA On, Disconnect On, SyncDataXfer Off Excluded drive IDs: CmdQueuing : 1 CmdNotification: 2 WriteBufferSize: 24117248 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 EraseSpeed : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 127MB (130460kB) Free physical memory: 0MB (384kB) Memory in use : 82 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Enabled (1) Wizard: On 24.6.2005 CD-ROM (ISO) 6:03:43 PM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 7604 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : FALSE Multisession : TRUE Multisession type: : Start multisession Burning mode : TAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 6:03:43 PM #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 115 Reader running 6:03:43 PM #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 125 Writer CD-R/RW RW7060A running 6:03:43 PM #4 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 4571 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 6:03:43 PM #5 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3773 Turn on Track-At-Once, using CD-R/RW media 6:03:43 PM #6 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 672 Setup items (original item values) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original CD pos #0 + 200626 (200626) = #200626/44:35.1 relocatable, CD pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -------------------------------------------------------------- 6:03:57 PM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 229 Last possible write address on media: 359845 (79:59.70) Last address to be written: 200625 (44:37.00) 6:03:57 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 234 Write in overburning mode: FALSE 6:03:57 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 1703 Recorder: CD-R/RW RW7060A; @mtech1 - i won't comment/get into the registry question, but have had a go at decoding your logfile - - download latest version of ASPI layer here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm - firmware is up to date, but it's dated 2002. Just keep in mind that this drive won't recognise newer media too well - 128MB is barely enough for Windows 98 itself, never mind CD Burning. Either way something's used up what little you have, so your PC will be using virtual memory, a portion of hard disc, so your hard disc will be 'swapping' thus interfering with the burn - you're not Finalising the disc. I don't know an awful lot about multisession as did all of one multisession disc about 5yrs ago and didn't see a need for it back then. - utter rubbish media i'm afraid. Use better quality CD media - utter rubbish media i'm afraid. Use better quality CD media - blatantly pinched this from a reply from 'binkie7' in another post - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/195031 "too much memory is already in use"
