Hi, I am a newbie to creating VCDs, and I am finding that I am creating VCD's that dont work. Following the steps from the guide Creating VideoCDs using Nero - Burning Rom Windows XP I am transferring from .AVI to .mpg (MPEG1 PAL) via TMPGenc, This seems to work OK, Then using nero 5.5 to create a VCD using the wizard. This process seems easy, I select create VCD etc, Drag the .mpg file over to file list and select burn CD. No error occurs in Nero 'Successful box' appears. then I discard messages , Drive opens. When I attempt in reinsert the disk into PC , Nothing happens and I cannot seem to get the vcd working . The files all seem to be on the disk. Is there anything else I need to do, am I missing a step, How can I check that the .mpg file is OK, Nero gives no messages stating the .mpg is invalid. Any suggestions.
The movie is located in the MPEGAV folder on a VCD! VCD's dont automatically run but if you open your DVD playing software ir might run it. If not, then open the AVSEQ01.dat (could also be .mpg) file with the dvd playing software!
Hi, Thanks for you response, It looks like I was doing it all fine, I thought that the VCD would start automatically, Is there a way to start them automatically. Another quick question, Should they start automatic on a stand alone DVD player, As I have a DVD that I have played VCD's before , but the one I created does not start / Play mine. Is there something that I am missing that allows a VCd to start auto on Stand alone DVD palyer Thanks Cameron.
Im not sure how to autostart it on a PC. As for your dvd player it should autostart!! However a few things could be happening for instance, the cd-r media u are using may be unreadable to your dvd player, do u know if your dvd player supports cd-r?
Yes , I have checked many DVD site and Yes they all say that it should support CD-r and CD-RW. I have tried creating via Nero and VCDEsay Nothing. I have been mainly trying via CD-RW (the same disk for each attemt), I have tried VCD. SVCD 1x and 2x and 4x speeds. But I am going to buy somwe good quality cd-r's and try again. I have actually had VCD palyed on the DVD we have Warfedale 750 and they worked fine. So back to the drawing board. In a small way it is good to have these problems as I am learing heaps. Cam
